The Roland F-20 piano features a recording function, allowing players to capture performances in the form of standard midi files.
Use this procedure to create a basic recording:
1) Select the tone that you want to record with.
2) Press the [SONG] button and [RHYTHM] button simultaneously.
3) Simply start playing the keyboard to begin recording.*
4) When you’re finished, press the [SONG] button to stop the recording
If You Want to Record along with the Metronome, follow this procedure:
1) Select the tone that you want to record with.
2) Turn the metronome on and select your desired key signature (for additional instruction on using the metronome, click here)
2) Press the [SONG] button and [RHYTHM] button simultaneously.
3) Simply start playing the keyboard to begin recording.*
4) When you’re finished, press the [SONG] button to stop the recording
If you want a 2-measure intro before starting a recording, follow this procedure:
1) Select the tone that you want to record with.
2) Press the [SONG] button and [RHYTHM] button simultaneously.
3) Press the SONG button to initiate the 2-measure introduction.
4) When you’re finished, press the [SONG] button to stop the recording.*
To make a recording along with backing rhythms, follow this procedure:
1) Select a rhythm before recording.
2) Activate recording mode by pressing the SONG button and RHYTHM button simultaneously.
3) Press the [RHYTHM] button, and the recording will start after a two-measure intro.*
4) To stop the recording, press the SONG button.
To play back the song that you just recorded:
1) Hold down the song button and press the E3** piano key.
To save the Recorded Song to a USB Flash Drive:
1) First connect your flash drive to the F-20
2) Hold down the [KEY TOUCH] button and press the [SONG] button.
3) Once all the LEDs on the buttons are lit, the data has been saved.
*If you want to try again and cancel during the recording, press the [SONG] button and [RHYTHM] button simultaneously.
**C4 refers to middle C, and each octave accounts for a number. So C5 refers to one octave above middle C, C6 refers to two octaves above middle C, etc. Refer to the picture below for a visual look at how to find the keys you want.
