BK-7M: How to play MIDI files from your laptop
You can play MIDI files on the BK-7M easily by putting them on a USB flash drive, and then plugging the flash drive into the BK-7M and selecting them directly on the module.
You can also play MIDI files from a laptop when connected by a USB A/B cable or a MIDI cable (with an interface); however, there are a couple extra step.
There are 16 "Song" parts that are usually used by the SMF playback engine in the BK-7m (using files from the USB key), but these can also be used from an external sequencer via MIDI. In order to play MIDI files from your laptop on your BK-7M, you will need to turn these song parts on, as they are not set to receive by default.
To do this, you can use the following procedure:
1) Press the Menu button.
2) Use the wheel to scroll to "MIDI", and press enter.
3) Scroll to the "Edit Song Parts" menu and press enter.
4) For each of the 16 parts, set the "Rx" parameter from "OFF" to "ON" (see page 67 in the owner's manual for more information).*
*To clarify: You will manually need to select each part; part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, etc., all the way up to part 16 - turning the Rx on for each individual part.
