You can transpose multiple different elements on the HP508 piano. You can transpose the keyboard itself, you can transpose a song (audio format only), or you can transpose both together.
Here is the procedure for transposing an audio file to a different key:*
- While holding down the [song balance] button, press the [AB repeat] button to enter "function mode".
- Use the Slow/Fast buttons to select the parameter called "Audio Transpose".
- Use the [-] and [+] buttons to select your desired setting. You can transpose the song up to 5 half steps up (+5), or up to 6 half steps down (-6).
- Press the [Song balance] button and the [AB Repeat] button to exit function mode.
*This procedure only works with audio files, and NOT with MIDI files. Also be aware that you must have a USB device plugged into the piano in order to record audio files.
Here is the procedure for transposing the keyboard by itself, without affecting the chosen song (audio file):
- While holding down the [song balance] button, press the [AB repeat] button to enter "function mode".
- Use the Slow/Fast buttons to select the parameter called "Transpose Mode".
- Use the [-] and [+] buttons to select the setting "keyboard", so that the transpose mode will only affect the sound of the keyboard.
- Press the [Song balance] button and the [AB Repeat] button to exit function mode.
The above procedures will allow you to transpose the audio file to one key, and have the keyboard set to another key. This is a nice option if you want to change the key of the song, without having to play on a transposed keyboard.
