The USB Driver Mode setting in the JD-XA allows you to select how the USB connection from the JD-XA communicates with other devices (such as a computer). By default, this parameter is set to "Vendor," which requires that you install a USB driver on your computer (Mac or PC) for the connection to be made.
In some cases, you may want to select the "Generic" setting for this parameter:
- If you are using the JD-XA with an iOS or Android device that has built-in MIDI drivers.
- If you are using the JD-XA with a computer / operating system that does not have drivers available from Roland.
Using the Generic setting is also sometimes referred to as "Class Compliant."
Note: The Generic setting allows for MIDI communication only, Audio transfer via USB is not supported in this mode.
To change the USB Driver Mode setting:
- Press the MENU button.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select "SYSTEM," and press ENTER.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select "USB Drv," and then use the -/+ buttons to select "VENDOR" or GENERIC."
