It is always recommended to backup important data when working with electronic instruments. Here are the steps to back up and restore your sounds and patterns on the JD-xi (you will need to connect to a computer for this):
Backing Up Data from the JD-Xi to a Computer
- Connect the JD-Xi to your computer using a standard USB cable.
- Press the MENU/WRITE button.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select “UTILITY,” and press ENTER.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select “Backup,” and press ENTER.
- A folder opens on your computer screen, showing the file that will be backed up. Do not rename the file that is displayed.
- Copy the displayed file to your computer.
- On your computer, end (unmount) the connection to the JD-Xi. The JD-Xi’s screen will return to the UTILITY screen.
Restoring Data from a Computer to the JD-Xi
- Connect the JD-Xi to your computer using a standard USB cable.
- Press the MENU/WRITE button.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select “UTILITY,” and press ENTER.
- Use the Cursor </> buttons to select “Restore,” and press ENTER.
- A folder will open on your computer screen. Copy the file that you backed up on your computer into the open folder window.
- On your computer, end (unmount) the connection to the JD-Xi. The Restore operation will begin when the connection is ended. When it is complete, the display indicates “Completed. Turn off power.”
- Turn the power of the JD-Xi off, then on again.
