If you are preparing to sell a FANTOM keyboard to another user, please note that any expansions you may have loaded into the FANTOM (such as wave expansions, model expansions, etc.) are licensed through your personal Roland Cloud account. If you leave any expansions installed in the FANTOM, the new owner will not be able to load any additional expansions they purchase or download unless they first remove your license (and the associated expansions).
Because of this, we recommend first performing a Factory Reset on the FANTOM to initialize all USER data, and then removing your Roland Cloud license. After doing so, the new user can load any expansions they desire. Here are the steps:
Factory Reset
Note: This procedure will permanently erase all user data and settings in the FANTOM, so be sure to back up any important data that you wish to keep before proceeding with the reset.
- Press MENU, then touch "UTILITY" on the touch screen.
- Touch "FACTORY RESET" to view the Factory Reset screen.
- Select the 3 options at the bottom of the screen - "Apply Pad Sample", "Apply Kbd Sample", and "Apply Internal Storage." This will remove any samples you may have created or loaded into the FANTOM and restore the factory default samples.
- To proceed, touch "OK." If you would like to cancel the operation, you can touch the CANCEL button instead.
- To confirm and execute the reset, touch "OK."
- After the operation is complete, power the FANTOM off and then on again.
Note: Never turn off the power while the factory reset is in progress.
Removing your License
- Turn the power on while holding down the TEMPO button. The EXPANSION screen appears.
- Select E4 (REMOVE LICENSE). A confirmation message appears.
- If you decide to cancel, select E6 (CANCEL).
- Select E5 (OK). The license information is deleted.
NOTE: Never turn off the power or remove a connected USB flash drive while the screen indicates “working.” - Turn the power off, and then on again.
FANTOM EX
If you have purchased and installed the EX Upgrade for the FANTOM 6, 7, or 8, please note that performing a factory reset and removing the license information does not remove the EX upgrade, but we still do recommend uninstalling all of the expansions using the procedure above so that the new owner can purchase and download the desired expansions using their own account.
