Most all USB memory drives up to 32 GB can be used with the SPD-30. Before using one, you must format it first within the SPD-30. Here's how:

- Please use either a Roland M-UF1G/M-UF2G or a USB flash drive with a capacity of up to 32 GB. Using a USB flash drive with a capacity exceeding 32 GB may cause an error.
- Turn on the SPD-30.
- Insert the USB memory drive into the USB MEMORY port on the back panel of the SPD-30.
- Press the MENU button.
- Turn the function 1 knob to highlight "USB."
- Press the function 3 button (ENTER).
- Press the function 1 button once to select the FORMAT tab.
- Press function 3 (ENTER) - "All data on this SUB memory will be erased" appears in the display.
- Press function 3 twice.
- Press the BACK button to return to the main menu. The USB memory drive is now ready to be used in the SPD-30.
