The Jupiter-80 normally requires that a Roland USB driver be installed on your computer to be able to communicate correctly. If you have an operating system that is not supported, you can set the Jupiter-80 to use the MIDI driver that is built into your computer's operating system (for instance, Core MIDI on Mac OSX). To do this you must change the USB Driver setting to "Generic."
Note: In this mode, the USB connection transmits MIDI data only (not audio data).
Here are the steps:
- Press MENU.
- Touch "SYSTEM."
- Cursor to the "Beep / Misc" tab on the left side of the screen.
- Touch "USB Driver" and use the value dial to change this setting to "GENERIC (MIDI ONLY)."
- Touch "System Write" at the top of the screen, then touch "OK."
- Power off and back on the Jupiter-80.
This will allow you to connect the Jupiter-80 to a computer (Mac or PC) without the need for a Roland USB driver.
Note: This function was added in System Update v1.10, so you may need to update your Jupiter-80 if you do not see this option.
