The TD-11 has two 1/4" outputs which can be setup so each instrument in a kit can be assigned to them independently. This can be helpful if you want to have two separate isolated channels going to a live sound mixer or recording console. For example, you can have a kick instrument assigned separately to one output, and a snare instrument assigned to the other. By having them separate, you'd be able to control volume levels, adjust EQ, and/or add external effects to each instrument independently from the external mixer. This setup is achieved by using the "Pan" feature in the TD-11.
Here's how to setup the TD-11's outputs so they are separate in a Kit:
1. Choose a Kit to edit.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Press F1(INST).
4. Press F2(EDIT).
5. Press the cursor down button to choose "Pan."
6. Hit the pad that you want to adjust.
7. Turn the dial to choose "R15." This will pan the instrument to the TD-11's right output only.
8. Hit the other pad to select the next instrument.
9. Press the (-) button to choose "L15" - (opposite of what you chose in Step 5).
10. Repeat this process for any other pads as desired.
Now that you have panned the instruments opposite of each other, you'll also want to turn off the Ambience that may be active in the Kit. Here's how:
11. Press the EXIT twice.
12. Press F2(FX).
13. Press F1(AMBIENCE).
14. Turn the dial counterclockwise to choose "OFF."
15. Press EXIT three times to return to the main menu. The new settings are saved in the Kit automatically.
