The AX-Synth normally requires that a Roland USB driver be installed on your computer to be able to communicate correctly. If you have an operating system that is not supported, you can set the AX-Synth to use the MIDI driver that is built into your computer's operating system (for instance, Core MIDI on Mac OSX). To do this you must change the USB Driver setting to "Generic."
- Vendor ("UEn"): Use this setting if you have a Roland driver available to install on your computer.
- Generic ("GEn"): Use this setting if you wish to use the built-in MIDI driver in your computer's operating system.
- Hold down the SHIFT button and press PGM CHANGE / INC. The WRITE button flashes, and the display now shows the name of the driver that is currently active (“Gen” or “Uen”).
- Keep holding the SHIFT button and press the PGM CHANGE / INC button to switch between “Gen” or “Uen”.
- Press the WRITE button to confirm your selection.
- Release the SHIFT button.
- Switch the AX-Synth off, wait a few seconds, then switch it on again.
