The Jupiter-50 normally requires that a Roland USB driver be installed on your computer to be able to communicate correctly. If you have an operating system that is not supported, you can set the Jupiter-50 to use the MIDI driver that is built into your computer's operating system (for instance, Core MIDI on Mac OSX). To do this you must change the USB Driver setting to "Generic."
Note: In this mode, the USB connection transmits MIDI data only (not audio data).
Here are the steps:
- Press MENU.
- Press F3 (SYSTEM).
- Press F1 (SETUP).
- Press F6 (MISC).
- Cursor to "USB DRIVER" and use the value dial to change this setting to "GENERIC (MIDI ONLY)."
- Press F6 (SYSWRITE), followed by F5 (OK).
- Power off and back on the Jupiter-50.
This will allow you to connect the Jupiter-50 to a computer (Mac or PC) without the need for a Roland USB driver.
