The Kit Chain feature in the SPD-30 allows you to place desired Kits in a specific order. This is helpful to use when you want to select specific Kits quickly without having to scroll through all of the Kits in the main menu to access each one. For example, if you use Kit #5, Kit #21, and Kit #74 frequently, you can place them in a Chain and then select them quickly and easily in a specific order by pressing the KIT < / > buttons.
You can create up to 8 different Chains (A-H). Chains are stored as "Banks" and each Chain can contain 20 steps (kits). Here's how to setup a chain in the SPD-30:
1. Press MENU.
2. Turn the function 1 (F1) knob to highlight KIT CHAIN.
3. Press the function (F3) button (ENTER).
4. Press the function 1 or 2 buttons to choose the "A" tab.
5. Turn function 3 to select the first Kit for your Chain.
6. Press the function 3 button (OK).
7. Turn the function 1 knob to highlight Step 2.
8. Turn function 3 again to choose the desired Kit for Step 2 of your Chain.
9. Press function 3 (OK).
10. Repeat the steps to complete the Chain with the desired Kits.
11. Press the BACK button to return to the main menu. The new settings are saved automatically.
Now that you have created a Chain, you'll need to activate it within the Quick Menu. Here's how:
1. Press the QUICK button.
2. Turn the function 2 knob to highlight "Kit Chain," and then press function 3 (OK).
You can now press the < / > kit buttons to select the kits in your new Chain.
