BR-800: How to Pitch Correct a Recorded Track

The following article will guide through using Pitch Correct to correct inaccuracies in a recording.

Enabling Pitch Correction

1. Press the COSM EFFECTS button so that it illuminates--indicating it's on. The EFFECT screen will appear.
2. Use the Cursor buttons and data dial to set “BANK” to “MICROPHONE”.
3. Cursor down to “LOCATION” and then press ENTER.
   
4. Use the data dial to set the “LOCAT:” to the track that will be pitch corrected.
   For example: If a vocal track that will be pitch corrected is on track 2, then select "LOCAT:   TRACK2"
5. Press EXIT once.
6. Cursor up to "PATCH and set this to "P18  PCH COR".
7. Press ENTER.
8. Cursor to “PCR” and then press ENTER.
9. Use the Cursor buttons and data dial to set the ON/OFF to "ON" and also to make the desired settings.
   Note: An explanation of these settings can be found below or on page 81 of the BR-800 owner's manual.
10. After the appropriate settings are made, lower the volume of all tracks except for the MASTER and the track that's being pitch corrected.
11. Press PLAY to hear the recording.
12. Press EXIT three times.

Recording the Pitch Shift
Although it's not required, the pitch correct track can be rerecorded onto another track.

Note: If the newly pitch corrected track does not need to be recorded, this section can be skipped.

1. Press MENU.

2. Cursor to "MASTERING," and then press ENTER.

3. Turn the dial clockwise to set MASTERING to the ON position.

4. Press EXIT twice to return to the main screen. The display shows the track(s) to which you'll be mastering underneath the word "MASTERING." By default, “TR78-VMST” is displayed for the stereo virtual mastering track belonging to Tracks 7 and 8.
   

1. Use the CURSOR buttons and DATA dial to select the track and virtual track that the pitch corrected track will be recorded to.
   For example, if the original track that now has pitch correction enabled on it is Track 2, the pitch correction can be recorded onto Track 3 on it's first virtual track (i.e. "TR 3-V1").
2. Lower the volume of all tracks except for the MASTER and the track that's been pitch corrected. (In the previous example, this would be track 2).

3. When the song has finished playing, press STOP. A "PREVIEW" window will appear.

4. Press PLAY to hear your mastered (mixdown) track. The pitch corrected track is not recorded, with it's pitch correction, onto the track set on step 5 above.

5. Press EXIT twice to return to the main screen.
