If you wish to Backup the DD-500's settings, the method to do so is via the MIDI Bulk Dump function.
Here are the steps:
MIDI Bulk Dump: BACKUP
1. Using a MIDI cable, connect the MIDI Out jack of your DD-500 to the MIDI In jack
of a MIDI Interface, or Audio Interface with a MIDI port on-board.
2. Open up a DAW application (Audio/MIDI Recording program) create a MIDI track
and set it up to record SYSEX messages.
3. On the DD-500, press EDIT.
4. Using the down arrow, select MIDI Bulk Dump.
5. Choose the range of settings and presets that you wish to backup.
6. Start recording in your DAW.
7. Press the EDIT button on the DD-500. "Sending BULK DATA" flashes in the
DD-500's display. Continue recording in the DAW until the DD-500 returns to the
MIDI Bulk dump menu.
MIDI Bulk Dump: RESTORE
1. Connect the MIDI OUT from your MIDI Interface - or Audio Interface that has an
on-board MIDI out connection - to the MIDI IN on the DD-500.
2. Start playback in your DAW. The DD-500 will detect the incoming MIDI data
automatically. The DD-500's screen display "MIDI BULK RECEIVE" once the data
begins loading.
