The following is information to help you troubleshoot your R-Series recorder in the event that there are any issues with an SD card:
- Try testing the recorder with new, unused Alkaline or Nickel Hydrogen batteries.
Note: Lithium batteries are not compatible and are a common reason why customers have reported this issue. - If you are using a power supply, be sure that you are using a Roland power supply only--3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly.
- Test with the original recorder's SD memory card that was included with the product new in the box.
- If the issue is resolved with the original SD memory card but is still receiving error messages with different SD cards, your recorder's current operating version may need to be updated. You may download the latest version of operating system on our website:
https://www.roland.com/global/products/r-09/downloads/ - Be sure that the card is compatible:
R-09: Secure Digital (SD) Card Compatibility Guidelines - If the issue continues with the original SD card included with the product, and any other compatible SD card you try, your recorder may need to be serviced. To get your recorder serviced, you must first obtain a Return Authorization number (RA). You can do so by using our online service request form on our site here: Backstage (Roland Account required)
