The following article will guide through recording with one external microphone (such as a handheld or lavalier) on the R-26.
NOTE: Note that SAMPLE RATE and REC FORMAT choice are based on many factors (e.g. personal preference, sample rate matching needs, compatibility based on where the files will be used, etc). Because of this, we don't have a specific recommendations for what sample rate or recording format to use. Please refer to documentation of the software or hardware that the R-26 audio files will be used with for recommendations.
SETUP

Connect the microphone into ANALOG IN 1/L with a standard XLR or 1/4" cable.
NOTE: If a condenser microphone that requires Phantom Power (48 volts) is being used, the XLR input on the R-26 must be used--as the 1/4" inputs on the R-26 do not supply phantom power. - Press the [MENU] button on the front panel of the R-26

Touch REC SETUP.

Touch REC MODE.

Touch "1 CHANNEL".
NOTE: Since a single microphone is being used, a mono file only will be recorded. - Touch BACK twice to return to the main screen.
- If a microphone that does NOT require Phantom Power (48 volts) is being used, skip to step *********** below.
If using a condenser microphone, turn on the Phantom Power: -
Touch INPUT SETUP.

Touch ANALOG IN.

Touch INPUT1 PHANTOM and then press "ON".

Touch the MENU button three times.
- Press the [SENS] button on the front panel. The INPUT SENS SETUP screen appears after about 3 seconds.
- While talking or singing into the microphone, touch the AUTO SENS button on the screen.
- Continue talking or singing into the microphone until "ENTER" appears inside the window.
NOTE: Don't stop singing or talking into the microphone until "ENTER" appears. - Once ENTER appears on the screen, touch "ENTER" and you may now stop talking or singing into the microphone.
- Use the [INPUT 1] knob to adjust the input level (the number on the bottom left of the screen) so that the it matches the optimal value shown in the center of the screen.
- Touch "OK" on the screen.
- Touch "BACK" on the top right of the screen to return to the main menu.
The R-26 is now ready to record.

Press the [REC] button so that it begins to blink red.

Press the [PLAY] button to begin recording.

Press [STOP] to end recording.

Adjust the INPUT 1 knob as needed.
