The following article troubleshoots in the event that the R-05 will not play an audio recording.
NOTE:
The R-05 does not have a speakers installed and in order to hear any audio playback, headphones or speakers will need to be connected to the R-05's "PHONES" jack on the left panel (and not on the top panel).
If no sound is heard:
- Be sure that the R-05's volume ("VOL") has been turned up using the "+" sign to the right of the front panel.
-
If headphones are being used, test the headphones on another audio device (such as an iPhone or iPod) to be sure that the headphones are working properly.
If speakers are being used, - Be sure that their power is on and that their volume is up. If the problem continues, test the speakers on another audio device (such as an iPhone or iPod) to be sure that the speakers are working properly.
- Test with a different audio cable connecting the speakers to the R-05.
- Be sure that the HOLD switch on the right side panel is not on.
- The audio file(s) may need repair: Repairing a Damaged or Unplayable File
- If a power supply is being used, be sure that a PSB-6U or UDC-25 power supply only is being used--3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly. If the correct power supply is being used or batteries are being used, disconnect the power supply (if one is connected) and try using brand new, unused batteries for troubleshooting purposes--Alkaline batteries are recommended and Lithium are not compatible.
- Be sure that the SD card is compatible: What Secure Digital (SD) Memory Cards are Compatible?
- Test with a different compatible memory card.
- Be sure that the R-05 is operating at it's latest version: https://www.roland.com/global/products/r-05/downloads/
