Receiving a "Drive Busy" message indicates that the zip disc has accumulated fragmentation. We recommend exporting all tracks as WAV files to a computer and then initializing the memory card to clear out the fragmentation. To avoid receiving this message, initialize the memory card every 3 months if the unit is being used constantly or every 6 months if the unit is being used only occasionally.

Note: If the audio data on the zip disc is not needed and can be deleted, skip to the "Card Initialize" section below.
If the data on the zip disc is needed, the tracks can be exported as WAV files onto a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer using the BR-8 WAV Converter software. The following article guides through this:

CAUTION: All recorded data and User information will be lost. Be sure to back up any information you wish to keep.

Press UTILITY.

CURSOR to select the DISC icon and then press ENTER.

CURSOR to select the DISC INITIALIZATION icon and then press ENTER.

Use the TIME/VALUE dial to turn “Physical Format” to the “ON” position.

Press the down CURSOR button toBR-8: Initializing a Zip Disc select “GO”.

Press ENTER twice.
If the problem continues, the zip disc may need to be replaced. The BR-8 was compatible with 100MB zip discs; larger zip discs will not work. Due to the age of the product, we no longer have resources for where to purchase zip discs.
