The VH-13 Hi-hat's open/close range is called "Offset" in the TD-50. Offset is a crucial adjustment that should be done periodically so the VH-13 functions and performs correctly. Here's how to adjust the VH-13's Offset in the TD-50:
1. On the VH-13, loosen the clutch on the top hi-hat pad and lower it so it rests on the bottom pad.
2. Press the TRIGGER button.
3. Press F4(HIHAT).
4. Confirm that "Trig Type" is set to "VH-13." If a different Trigger Type is shown, turn the dial to choose "VH-13."
5. Press F5(OFFSET).
6. Press F5 again (EXECUTE). "Now Processing..," followed by "Complete!" appears briefly in the display.
7. Press the KIT button to exit. The new calibration setting is saved automatically.
8. Readjust and tighten the VH-13's clutch.
** As mentioned, it's important to calibrate the VH-13 periodically, and/or anytime you have removed the VH-13 from the hihat stand and replaced it.
