You can use one of the two ways shown below to play along with backing music.

Using the INPUT (LINE) jack (stereo miniature phone type)
For the backing music input, connect the audio player to the INPUT (LINE) jack with a commercially available stereo miniature phone type cable. -
Using the USB FOR UPDATE port
You can copy an audio file (MP3 or WAV) from your computer to a USB flash drive, and perform on the RD-08 while that audio file plays back. For details, see "Playing songs" in the RD-08 Owner's Manual. - Using the USB Audio functionality
To use this function, you need to install the RD-08 Upgrade and the dedicated USB driver.
