You can connect optional pads to the CRASH 2 and/or AUX TRIGGER IN jacks located on the rear panel of the TD-17 if they are currently unused. Please refer to “Pad Type list” in the TD-17 Data List for the supported pads.
To connect a pad, follow the steps below:
In this example, we will connect and setup a Roland PDX-8 dual-trigger pad to the TRIGGER IN (AUX) jack to be used as an extra tom pad.
- Using a Roland V-Drums dual-trigger cable (i.e. Roland - PCS-5-TRA | V-Drums Trigger Cable), connect the PDX-8 to the TRIGGER IN (AUX) jack on the back panel of the TD-17. When purchased individually, Roland pads normally include a V-Drums cable in the box.
- Press the [SETUP] button.
The SETUP MENU screen appears.
- Turn the main dial to highlight "Pad Settings," and then press the [F3] (ENTER) button.
The PAD SETTINGS screen appears.
- Press the [F1] (TYPE) button.
- Hit the pad to select the "AUX" input.
- Turn the dial to select "PDX8" as the Pad Type.
- Press the DRUM KIT button when you're finished. The new setting is saved automatically.
Hit the pad again to check the sound.
