The GK-5/GK-5B both use the relative pitch provided by the pickup, as a result of this you can use fretless guitars and basses with them without issue.
If you wanted to use a device such as the GM-800 to output MIDI to another device, you may experience some abnormalities in the pitches between the notes, but the internal sounds should work as intended.
