The following is information to help troubleshoot in the event that a computer does not recognize the R-07 as an audio interface.
OPERATING SYSTEM
In order to operate as an audio interface, the R-07 needs to be running at least version 1.10. The following web page includes how to check the version as well as instructions for updating if needed: https://www.roland.com/global/products/r-07/downloads/
SAMPLE RATE
Set the R-07’s sampling rate (44.1 kHz or 48.0 kHz) to match the sampling rate of the computer software being used.
NOTE: You cannot set the R-07’s sampling rate to “88.2 kHz” or “96.0 kHz” when using as an audio interface.
- Press [MENU] to access the “Menu” screen
- Cursor “USB Audio I/F,” and then press the red record button to select.
- Cursor to “Sampling Rate” and select the desired sample rate.
R-07 SETTINGS
When connecting the R-07 to a computer, a USB Mode window will appear on the R-07's screen. Be sure to select "Audio I/F (PC)", press the red record button and wait a few moments. This allows both Windows and Macintosh computers recognize the R-07.
USB
- IMPORTANT: Do not use a micro USB cable that is designed only for charging a device. Charge-only cables cannot transmit data. Check the documentation of the cable being used to be sure that the cable is not designed for charge-only.
- Try a different USB port on the computer.
- Try a different USB cable (if available).
- Do not connect the recorder to a USB hub while troubleshooting.
- Be sure that you are connecting to a USB 2.0 port on your computer; or a USB 3.0 port with backwards compatibility. Check the USB 3.0 specifications of your computer to determine if there is complete support for USB backwards compatibility.
- If using a macOS computer with USB C, be sure to use a name brand or an Apple brand adapter. 3rd party adapters can be problematic.
- Note that connection issues can occur with any audio interface if a computer falls asleep while connected. If the R-07 does not work correctly after resuming from Sleep mode, exit all applications/software , disconnect the USB cable of the R-07 and reconnect it. Be sure to not play or record audio for a minute or so after the computer restarts--to allow the system to fully "wake up" and communicate with the R-07 completely.
microSD CARD
- Test with the microSD that was included with the R-07 and not a 3rd party microSD--just while troubleshooting.
- Be sure that the microSD card being used is compatible: What microSD Cards are Compatible?
- Be sure that the microSD card is inserted correctly. Try removing the microSD card and the reinserting the card.
- You may have a fragmented memory card--due to improper ejection from a computer, power loss while recording, not formatting a new microSD card, etc. We would recommend formatting the microSD card to alleviate the possible fragmentation on the card.
NOTE: Formatting a memory card will delete all contents on the card: Formatting the microSD Card - Try using a different microSD memory card (if one is available) to rule out a malfunctioning card.
COMPUTER
- Be sure to log onto your computer as a user with administrative privileges.
- Close/turn off system monitoring/anti-virus software temporarily--this may be preventing your computer from recognizing the recorder.
- Be sure the computer's operating system is running at its latest version.
- Test on a different computer (if available) to rule out a computer related issue.
