Calibrating the VH-10 hihat in the TD-17 is crucial for optimal triggering results. After connecting the VH-10 correctly, be sure to follow these steps to calibrate it;
- Turn on the TD-17.
- Loosen the clutch on the VH-10 and let the pad drop down and rest onto the controller.
- Press the SETUP button on the TD-17.
- Press the cursor down button to highlight "Hi-Hat Settings," and then press function 3 (F3) for ENTER.
- If necessary, turn the dial to choose "VH-10" as the Pad Type.
- While viewing the indicator in the left-hand side of the display (between the vertical bars), turn the Open/Close nut on the VH-10 clutch until the indicator is in between the two left and right pointing arrows (next to "Hihat Calibration"). If the indicator is below the arrows, turn the Open/Close nut clockwise. If it is above the arrows, turn the nut counterclockwise.
- After the indicator is set between the two arrows and the arrows are highlighted, press the DRUM KIT button to exit, and then lift the VH-10 pad and tighten the hihat clutch so there is about 2-3mm of space between the bottom of the pad and the hihat controller.
