Muffling can be used to either increase or decrease the decay (sustain) of an instrument. For example, increasing the Muffling for a bass drum instrument will shorten the decay of the bass drum sound as it rings out - similar to placing a pillow inside an acoustic bass drum. You can adjust the muffling for any of the instruments in the TD-17. Here's how:
1. Choose a Kit to edit.
2. Press the MUFFLING button.
3. Hit the pad that you want to adjust.
4. Turn the dial clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the Muffling.
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the remaining pads if desired.
6. Press the DRUM KIT button when your'e finished. The new settings are saved automatically.
