The following article troubleshoots USB Recorder issues.
- Be sure that the drive is compatible:

Note: We do not recommend using USB drives that are larger than 32GB.
- Perform a Speed Test of the USB drive to be sure the drive is compatible. This can be found on page 206 of the manual:
https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/m400_manual_v15.pdf - Format the USB drive in the M-480 and not in a computer. Instructions can be found on page 204 of the manual.
- Test with a different, compatible USB drive. A different model and/or brand of USB drive than the one currently being used is recommended.
- Be sure that the M-400 is operating at it's latest version:
