Roland recommends backing up data as often as possible. You can use the following procedures to back up and restore your data using a separate USB key.
Format the USB Key
You first need to format the USB key in the FANTOM.
Note: Formatting a USB key will erase all contents of the key.
- Connect a USB key to the "COMPUTER MEMORY" port on the back of the FANTOM (32GB or smaller in size)
- Press MENU, then touch "UTILITY."
- Touch "USB MEMORY FORMAT," then touch "OK."
- A warning message appears - touch "OK" to proceed with the format. "Completed" will be displayed when the format is finished.
Backing up User Data
Note: If you back up using the same file name as backup data that already exists on the USB flash drive, the existing data will be overwritten. Assign a different name if you want to make a new backup.
- Press MENU, then touch "UTILITY" on the touch screen.
- Touch "BACKUP."
- If you want to rename the backup file, touch "RENAME" and use the on-screen keyboard to set the desired file name. After editing the name, touch "OK" to close the window.
- Touch "OK."
- A warning message will appear, to cancel the operation, touch "CANCEL." To execute, touch "OK."
- When the backup is finished "Completed" will be displayed. Touch "Close" on the touch screen.
Note: Never turn off the power or remove the USB flash drive while the screen indicates “working.”
Restoring Saved Data from a USB Flash Drive
Note: When you execute the restore operation, all user settings currently saved in the FANTOM-06/07/08 will be lost. If you want to keep the current settings, back them up using a different name first.
- Press MENU, then touch "UTILITY" on the touch screen.
- Touch "RESTORE." The backups on the USB key will be displayed.
- Touch the file that you want to restore, and then touch "RESTORE."
- A warning message will appear, to cancel, touch "CANCEL" or to proceed touch "OK."
- When the data has been loaded back into the FANTOM-06/07/08, "Completed Please Power Off!" will be displayed.
- Turn the power off, and then on again.
Note: Never turn off the power or remove the USB flash drives while the screen indicates “working.”
