In this example, we'll setup using the ES-8: MUTE footswitch to control TAP TEMPO on the RC-10R.
Using a 1/4" TRS STEREO cable, connect the EXT/EXTERNAL CTL 1/2 OUTPUT on the ES-8 to the CTL1/2 EXP input on the RC-10R.

RC-10R SETTINGS:
- On the RC-10R, select the CONTROL MENU: Press MENU to navigate to "CONTROL" - Choose "CTL1 PREF/CONTROL 1" PREFERENCE, and set it to "SYSTEM/GLOBAL."
- While still in the CONTROL MENU, navigate and set CTL1 FUNCTION to "TAP TEMPO."
This will set up the RC-10R CTL 1/2/EXP input to receive signal for TAP TEMPO control externally from the ES-8.
ES-8 SETTINGS:
On the ES-8, press the EDIT button - navigate to the CTL/EXP menu - Choose "MUTE" (or other NUM1-8 footswitch) : set to OFF to turn OFF the MUTE or other default functionality.
Then EXIT to CTL/EXP menu again, and navigate to the ASSIGNMENT 1 menu and set the following:
ASSIGNMENT 1
SW/SWITCH: = ON
SRC/SOURCE: = MUTE (or other user chosen NUM 1-8 footswitch)
MODE: = MOMENTARY
CATE/CATEGORY: = E.CTL/EXTERNAL CONTROL
TARGET: = CTL1
MIN: = OFF
MAX: = ON
To WRITE/SAVE your settings to this specific PATCH, press the WRITE button three times. Test and confirm using your MUTE footswitch on the ES-8 to control the RC-10R TAP TEMPO.
