Here are the basic steps to follow when installing a driver on your computer for the JUNO-DS61/76/88:
Check the USB Driver Mode
The JUNO-DS allows you to change the USB Driver setting - the available options are:
- VENDER: This setting requires that you install a Roland USB driver on your computer for the JUNO-DS, and allows you to transfer both MIDI and Audio through the USB connection. This is the 'normal' setting used when connecting to a computer.
- GENERIC: This setting does not require a Roland USB driver to be installed (it instead uses the built-in driver in your computer's operating system), and is also referred to as "Class Compliant." This is a good option when a USB driver is not available for your computer, or when you are connecting to an iOS device.
Here are the steps to change the USB Driver setting on the JUNO-DS:
- Press MENU.
- Cursor to "SYSTEM" and press ENTER.
- Use the </> buttons to select the "MIDI" tab at the top of the screen.
- Cursor to "USB Driver" and use the Value Dial to set this to "VENDER (MIDI+Audio)" or "GENERIC (MIDI only)." You will need to cursor to "WRITE" and press ENTER to proceed.
- Power off then back on the JUNO-DS.
Download and Install the Driver

- Download the applicable driver for your computer (mac or PC) and the version of operating system you have.

Confirm that the Driver is installed correctly

- Confirm that the USB driver is installed, and that the JUNO-DS is communicating correctly with your computer.
- On a Macintosh, look in the Audio MIDI Setup utility and confirm that the JUNO-DS is listed in the MIDI Studio and also the Audio window.
- On a PC, open the Device Manager and confirm that the JUNO-DS is listed under "Sound, video, and game controllers."
