Muffling can be used to either increase or decrease the decay (sustain) of an instrument. For example, increasing the Muffling for a bass drum instrument will shorten the decay of the bass drum sound as it rings out - similar to placing a pillow inside an acoustic bass drum. You can adjust the muffling/Decay for any of the instruments in the TD-17.
Here's how:
- Choose a Kit to edit.
- Press the MUFFLING button.
- Hit the pad that you want to adjust.
- Turn the dial clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the Muffling.
- Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the remaining pads if desired.
- Press the DRUM KIT button when you're finished. The new settings are saved automatically.
