On the RC-5, you can restore all settings to their factory default state by performing a factory reset.
If you have settings you want to keep, back them up beforehand. For backup instructions, see "Backing-Up or Recovering Data" in the RC-5 Reference Manual.
- From any memory location, press the [SETUP] button.
The SETUP screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob to select “F.RESET”.
- Press the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob.

Turn the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob to specify the settings that will be returned to their factory-set state.
For example, to fully initialize the device, choose 'MEM+SYS'.Value Explanation MEMORY Memory 1–99 SYSTEM System settings MEM+SYS Memory 1–99 and system settings - Press the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob.
A confirmation message “ARE YOU OK?” appears.
* If you decide not to execute the factory reset, select “CANCEL” and press the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob. - Turn the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob to select “OK,” and press the [MEMORY/LOOP LEVEL] knob.
The factory reset is executed, "F.RESET EXECUTING..... " appears on the display.
Once complete the RC-5 display should return to MEMORY 01.
