For optimum trigger results, it's best to match the Pad Type with the type of pad that's connected to an input. Doing so "tells" the TD-17 what type of pad is connected and automatically optimizes the sensitivity settings for that pad. From the factory, all of the Pad Types have already been set accordingly, however if you have added an extra pad to your VAD-306 setup, it's best to set the Pad Type for it.
Here's how:
- Press the SETUP button.
- Press the cursor down button to highlight "Pad Settings," and then press the function 3 (F3) button for ENTER.
- Press the function 1 button (F1) for "TYPE."
- Hit the pad or use the cursor up/down buttons to select the input that you want to set.
- Turn the dial to select the Pad Type. For example, if you have a CY-8 pad connected to the input, choose "CY8."
- Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for any remaining pads if needed.
- Press the DRUM KIT button when you're finished. The new settings are saved automatically.
