The following article troubleshoots issues that may arise when connecting to a computer. This may include the computer not recognizing the BR-800, slow connection speeds, etc.
-
Be sure that the BR-800 is running at version 1.10. The installed version appears on the bottom of the screen when powering on the BR-800. If an update is needed, this can be downloaded here with installation instructions in the web page: https://www.boss.info/global/products/br-800/downloads/
- If using the BR-800 as an audio interface to pass audio in real-time to recording software, be sure to install the driver for the computer's operating system: https://www.boss.info/global/products/br-800/downloads/
Note: If you're only using the BR WAV Converter software, there is no need to install the driver. - Close down any software or open windows not being used.
- If a power supply is being used, be sure that you're using a BOSS brand PSA-120 power supply only--3rd party power supplies can cause the unit to not operate properly.
- If the correct power supply is being used or if using USB bus power, try using brand new, unused Alkaline batteries for troubleshooting purposes.
- Be sure that a compatible SD card is being used: BR-800: Secure Digital (SD) Card Compatibility Guidelines
- Be sure to log on as a user with administrative privileges on your computer.
-
Close/turn off system monitoring/anti-virus software while troubleshooting--such as the Norton software, etc.
-
Connect directly to your computer via USB. Do not connect to a USB hub while troubleshooting.
-
Be sure to connect to a USB 2.0 port on the computer; or a USB 3.0 port with backwards compatibility. Check the USB 3.0 specifications of the computer to determine if there is complete support for USB backwards compatibility.
- Try a different USB cable.
- Try different USB ports on the computer.
- Try turning off/disconnecting any internet connection and test.
-
Install the latest version of Windows or macOS.
-
The BR-800 SD card may have become fragmented: BR-800: Resolving a Fragmented SD Memory Card
If the problem still continues, test with a different computer (if available) to determine if the issue is with the BR-800 or that computer.
