A "Data Too Short" message indicates that the track AND virtual track being selected for CD burning does not have any audio recorded on it.
Be sure to bounce the tracks prior to burning a CD and then select this bounced track and it's virtual track when burning a CD. Use the following article to guide through the Bounce process (which also explains how to check which V-Track is being recorded to): BR-1600CD: BOUNCING or MIXING Tracks to a Single Stereo Track
If a song was already bounced beforehand but this message appears when burning a CD, it's likely that the wrong virtual track was selected for burning.
For example: If a song was bounced to Track 9/10 V16 (i.e. virtual track 16) but when burning a CD, Track 9/10 V1 was selected (i.e. virtual track 1).
Be sure to check the track AND virtual track before burning to a CD:
- Load the Song project (MENU-->SONG-->SEL).
- Lower the volume of all track faders except for the Master fader and the track fader where the Bounce is recorded to--this is usually Track 9/10.
- Press the V-TRACK button.
- Cursor to the TRACK where the Bounce is recorded to and take note of the VTRACK that is selected.
- Press PLAY to hear the bounced recording.
- If you do not hear the bounced recording, press STOP and then cursor to VTRACK.
- Turn the dial to select another VTRACK.
- Repeat these steps until the correct VTRACK is found. This will tell you which VTRACK to select for burning to CD.
