First, read your MIC owner's manual, identify and confirm if you are using a DYNAMIC MIC or a CONDENSER MIC that needs +48V Phantom Power.
- If using a DYNAMIC MIC, connect the XLR cable, from MIC > to MIC IN on the RC-500, and it's ready to check INPUT LEVEL.
- If using a CONDENSER MIC, connect the XLR cable, from MIC > to MIC IN on the RC-500, but you'll need to turn ON the +48V Phantom Power for the MIC before checking the INPUT LEVEL
(See "Input/Output Settings" in the RC-500 Owner's Manual).
Press the [INPUT] button. The menu for input/output settings appears, turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] to navigate to PHANTOM, press the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob, then select PHANTOM: ON. Once set, press the [INPUT] or [EXIT] button to return to play screen.
To check the INPUT LEVEL, while viewing the color of the INPUT indicators on the RC-500, sing into your mic or play your guitar/instrument at the maximum volume that you would use during an actual performance.
- Green: The input level is too low.
- Orange: The input level setting is sufficient.
- Red: The input level is too high.
Adjust the input level so that the indicator is occasionally lit red.
- The input level of the microphone connected to the MIC IN connector can be adjusted using the [MIC LEVEL] knob.
- The input level of the guitar/instrument connected to the INST IN jack(s) cannot be adjusted with the RC-500. Please adjust the volume on the guitar or instrument.
NOTE: If no sound is heard from the amplifier or monitor speakers connected to the OUTPUT jack(s), even when the INPUT LEVEL is appropriately set, please check the output destination of the mic or instrument in the Input/Output Settings (INPUT). Press the [INPUT] button, then select "MIC IN" or "INST IN".
