The following is troubleshooting information if you're not able to update the SPD-30 or you are receiving an error message during the update process.
Before transferring the update files to the USB memory drive from the comupter, be sure to format the USB memory within the SPD-30.
OCTAPAD SPD-30: Formatting an External USB Memory Drive
If the format process completes without an error message, remove it, and then insert it back into the computer.
If an error message is produced during the format process, use a different USB memory drive.
It's important to transfer/copy the update files correctly to the USB memory drive.
Before they are transferred, they must be decompressed (unzipped).
Be sure to transfer both files ( e.g. spd30.bin, and spd30_prog1.bin), to the "root directory" (upper most level) on the USB memory. Do not place them inside any folders on the USB memory.
Once they have been copied, you should see the .bin files and Roland folder in the same window.
You can then eject the drive from your computer, insert it back into the SPD-30 and proceed with the upgrade process.
(USB drive inserted, power on while holding the F3 button).
