The TM-6 PRO supports 8 channel audio and MIDI to the computer via its USB port. For this functionality, the TM-6 PRO drivers must installed in your computer, and the USB Mode in the TM-6 PRO must be set to "VENDOR" from its default - (which is "GENERIC"). Here are steps and information for proper setup:
First, download and install the appropriate USB drivers. For Mac OS and Windows 8.1, drivers can be found on the TM-6 PRO's downloads page here: https://www.roland.com/global/products/tm-6_pro/downloads/
Installation instructions are included within the download.
*** Take note of the Mac OS troubleshooting informational link on each downloads page, as OS 10.13 thru current OS will block the installation of drivers in the background. You must "approve" that the drivers can be installed in the Security and Privacy section in your Mac.
For Windows 10/11, drivers will be downloaded and installed automatically once you have changed the TM-6 PRO's USB Mode to Vendor, connect the TM-6 PRO via USB to your PC, and have an internet connection established. (Note - there is no physical driver file to download for Windows 10).
Here's how to set the TM-6 PRO's USB Mode to "VENDOR."
- Press the MENU button.
- Cursor down to highlight "SYS," and then press ENTER.
- Cursor to highlight "USB SETUP," and then press ENTER.
- Press the function 1 (F1) button to confirm you're on the "DRIVER" tab. "GENERIC" will be highlighted.
- Press the + button to select "VENDOR." - A USB Driver message prompts in the TM-6 PRO's display stating that the new change will not become effective until the TM-6 PRO is powered off and on again. Press ENTER to select "OK" for this message.
- Use the power switch on the TM-6 PRO to turn off the power, and then power back on again.
After installing the drivers and switching the TM-6 PRO's USB Mode to Vendor, connect the USB port on the TM-6 PRO to your computer, then select it as an audio and/or MIDI device within your software.
