Here's how to update the system program firmware for the DD-200.
Details about the changes can be found in the “UPDATE HISTORY” section of the system program download page.
Before you start, check the system program version of your DD-200:
- Turn off the power.
- While holding down the [MEMORY] button, turn on the power.
The power turns on, and the version number appears in the display. - After checking the version, turn off the power.
If the display shows the latest version, no update is necessary.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE UPDATE
- DD-200 unit
- USB cable (use one that supports data transfer)
- Computer with USB port and internet connection (Windows or macOS)
CAUTION
- Never turn off the power while the update is in progress.
- Incorrect procedure may corrupt the system program and prevent the unit from starting.
DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE
- Go to the DD-200 UPDATES & DRIVERS page and click “DD-200 System Program”.
- Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the download page and select the "I AGREE..." check box.
- Click the “Download” button to download the system update file (
dd200_sys_vXXX.zip).
*XXX = Version number -
Unarchive the downloaded file.
- Windows: Right-click the ZIP file and click “Extract All”, then click “Extract”.
- macOS: Double-click the ZIP file to unzip it.
A folder named
dd200_sys_vXXXappears. - After unarchiving the update file, return to the DD-200 “UPDATES & DRIVERS” page and download the SMF Player appropriate for your operating system (Windows or macOS/Mac OS X).
UPDATE PROCEDURE
- Turn off the power.
- Set all knobs to their minimum (fully counterclockwise) position.
- While holding down the [TIME] knob, turn on the power.
The message "UPd" appears on the display. - Connect the DD-200 to your computer using a USB cable.
- On the computer, run UpdSMF and set the MIDI Out Device to "DD-200".
- Click <Path> (or <Select...> on Mac), specify the folder where the update files are located, and then click the <OK> button on “UpdSMF”.
- Click <Scan SMF> (not necessary on Mac) to confirm that the update file appears in the list.
- Click <Send>.
The update begins.
When "ok" appears on the DD-200 display, the update has completed. - Remove the plug from the INPUT A jack to turn off the power.
- Insert the plug again to turn the power back on and check that the system has been updated to the latest version.
– If "PrC" appears on startup, do not turn off the power until the display returns to normal.
– If the update fails, repeat the procedure from step 1.
