If you're having trouble calibrating or experiencing open/close performance issues with the VH-11, please follow the helpful troubleshooting and setup information below.
First, check and confirm that you have the cables connected correctly.
- The cable labeled "HHC" on the harness should be connected to the VH-11's Motion Sensor.
- The cable labeled "HH" should be connected to the TRIGGER OUT jack on the bottom of the VH-11 pad.
While in the calibration menu in the TD-25 (MENU > SETUP > HiHat Setting > ENTER), remove the VH-11's top pad and use your fingers to press the cylinder spring-loaded mechanism on the motion sensor up and down manually. When doing this, you will [should] see the indicator moving up and down between the two vertical bars in the TD-25's display.
If so, check the Hi-Hat lower clutch assembly on the underside of the VH-11 pad and make sure it is making contact with this piece when you place the pad back on the Hi-Hat stand.
(Note: The clutch included with the VH-11 must be used. A clutch possibly included with the Hi-Hat stand cannot be used).
Next, calibrate the VH-11 by following the Steps in this link: TD-25: Calibrating the VH-11
Note that the offset nut may take several full rotations and may get rather tight before you see a reaction from the indicator in the TD-25's display.
If the indicator is below the left and right pointing arrows while calibrating, turn the nut clockwise to raise it. If it is above the arrows, turn the nut counterclockwise to lower it.
