It's possible to use a Roland FD-series Hihat pedal or VH-11/ VH-10 Hihat pad system to control the SPD-30's Hihat instruments. To accomplish this, the HH Pedal function in the SPD-30 must be setup in each of the desired kits.
Here's how:
- Press the MENU button.
- Press ENTER (INST).
- Hit a pad that you want to assign a HH instrument to.
- Turn the function 1 knob to choose a desired Hihat instrument. (The Hihat group of instruments begins after the tom instrument group).
- Press the function 2 button twice to select the "HH CTRL" tab.
- For the pad that you have the new Hihat instrument assigned, turn the function 2 and 3 knobs to choose "PEDAL" for the A and B sounds.
- Press the BACK button when you're finished, and then try the pedal. If setup correctly, you will be able to play on the pad and use the pedal to control the Hihat open/closed sound.
Note: Be sure to connect the pedal or control out on the VH-series motion sensor to the HH CTRL input on the back of the SPD-30. The FOOT SW input cannot be used.
