The WL-20 and WL-20L differ in receiver color and the presence of the CABLE TONE feature. See the table below for recommended instruments for each model.

Using a Non-Recommended Combination
Both models can be used with instruments outside their recommended combinations, but the tone will differ from a standard guitar cable:
- WL-20L with a passive pickup instrument: The tone will be slightly brighter.
- WL-20 with an active pickup or preamp-equipped instrument: The tone will be slightly warmer.
