The SPD-SX and SPD-SX Special Edition (SE) can be restored to their factory default state by loading the Factory Restore data from a USB flash drive.
Note: This operation overwrites all data on the unit. Save any important data to a USB flash drive before proceeding. Refer to "Saving Data to a USB Flash Drive (SAVE (USB MEMORY))" in the SPD-SX Owner's Manual.
- Download the "SPD-SX Factory Restore Data" file from:
https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/spd-sx/updates_drivers/ - Extract the downloaded file.
A folder named "spdsx_fact_data" will appear. - Open this folder and copy the "Roland" folder to a USB flash drive (sold separately, up to 32 GB).
- Connect the USB flash drive to the USB MEMORY connector.
- On the SPD-SX, press [MENU] then cursor to UTILITY and press [ENTER] then cursor to LOAD (USB MEM) and press [ENTER].
The LOAD (USB MEMORY) screen appears. - Use the cursor [▲] [▼] buttons to select "ALL," and then press the [ENTER] button.
- Use the cursor [▲] [▼] buttons to select the data that you want to load, and then press the [ENTER] button.
A confirmation message appears.
If you decide to cancel without executing, press the [EXIT] button. - Press the [ENTER] button.
The data will be loaded.
