The DP-10 is the current model in Roland’s lineup, while the DP-8 is discontinued. Here are some key differences between these two pedals:
Rubber Plate for Stability: The DP-10 features a rubber plate attached to the bottom of the pedal, which helps improve stability during use. This rubber plate is particularly effective on hard floors, providing a non-slip experience and ensuring a comfortable playing feel. The DP-8 does not have this feature. When not in use, the rubber plate can be conveniently stored on the underside of the DP-10 pedal.
Pedal Cord Length: The DP-10 comes with a longer pedal cord, measuring 2.2 meters, compared to the DP-8's 1.3-meter cord. This provides more flexibility for setup in various configurations.
Aside from these differences, the DP-10 and DP-8 share the same specifications, including pedal size and functionality. Either pedal can be used with instruments that specify the DP-10 or DP-8.
About the Function Switch
Both the DP-10 and DP-8 are equipped with a function switch, allowing you to select the appropriate mode for your needs:
- Half Damper Control: Enables half-damper functionality, providing more expressive control during performance. Set the switch to the "Continuous" position to use this feature.
- Switch Control: Functions as a simple on/off pedal switch. Set the switch to the "Switch" position for this mode.
