The SPD-S contains over 181 pre-loaded sounds (samples) including acoustic and electronic drums, along with percussion and sound effects. If desired, these factory sounds can be deleted to free up the internal memory. If you have deleted them by mistake or for any other reason, you can restore them using the contents on the included CD-ROM, or by downloading and installing the Factory Restore Data from the SPD-S Downloads page here:
Note: Instructions for installing the downloadable version of the Factory Restore Data are contained on a README.pdf within the download.
Items required for installing the data from the CD-ROM:
- A computer with a CD-ROM drive
- A card reader that supports CompactFlash cards
- The accompanying CD-ROM
- A CompactFlash card (formatted in the SPD-S)
Follow the steps below to load the Factory Restore Data using the CD-ROM:
- Connect the CF card reader to the computer to ensure that it can be used.
- Load the accompanying CD into the CD-ROM drive.
- Insert the CompactFlash card into the card reader.
- Copy the “FCTRY” folder on the accompanying CD to the “ROLAND” folder on the CompactFlash card.
NOTE: If the “ROLAND” folder on the CompactFlash card already has a “FCTRY” folder, delete the “FCTRY” folder before copying. - After the copy process is complete, eject the CompactFlash card.
- Confirm the SPD-S is powered off, and then insert the CF card into the card slot on the SPD-S.
- While pressing and holding the [PATCH], [WAVE], and [CARD] buttons, turn on the SPD-S.
NOTE: After powering on, continue to press the three buttons until “[ENTER] to Load” appears. - When “[ENTER] to Load” appears, release the three buttons.
- Press [ENTER]. Data transfer from the CompactFlash card to the SPD-S begins. The load process takes several minutes.
- When “Load Completed!” appears in the display, the data transfer is complete.
- Eject the CompactFlash card, power the SPD-S off, and then power it on again.
