GO:MIXER PRO X: Troubleshooting Noise Issues

The following article troubleshoots in the event that the GO:MIXER PRO X contains noise in the audio.

1. Adjust the volume levels so that the PEAK indicator lights only briefly when the loudest parts are played. If the recording level is too high, the PEAK indicator remains lit while you’re recording.
2. Disconnect the USB cable from both the GO:MIXER PRO X and the phone. Then reconnect both ends making sure that the USB cable is fully connected to both the GO:MIXER PRO X and the phone.
3. Lower the volume of any unused inputs on the GO:MIXER PRO X. For example: When not connecting a microphone or a guitar or bass to the unit, turn the [GUITAR/BASS] knob and the [MIC] knob all the way counterclockwise to lower the volume level.
4. If noise is heard when the phone is near the GO:MIXER PRO X, the unit might be picking up electromagnetic noise produced by the smartphone. Try changing the locations of the smartphone and the GO:MIXER PRO X.
5. Test with the LOOP BACK switch set to the OFF position.

7. If using an external XLR microphone, be sure to connect to the GO:MIXER PRO X using an XLR cable.
8. If using an electric guitar, acoustic-electric guitar or a bass:
   • Electric guitar and bass guitar pickups are prone to noise. Try connecting only the guitar to the GO:MIXER PRO X—no effects, stomp boxes, etc. If the noise continues, test with a different 1/4" cable (if available).
   • Testing in a different room and/or different building is sometimes helpful--to determine if the noise is due to the guitar pickups receiving electromagnetic interference.
   • Be sure you’re using good-quality cables and components on the guitar—knobs, input jack, etc.—and that your guitar has properly installed shielding, which even new electric guitars may not always have.
   • Tip: You may also be able to reduce guitar-related hum by turning your body to the left or right in order to play at a different angle relative to your other equipment--due to the guitar's pickups receiving electromagnetic interference.
9. Be sure that a compatible app is being used. Not all apps are warranted for full function with the GO:MIXER PRO X. Check the compatible app list on the bottom of one of the links above.
10. Test with a different, compatible audio app.
11. Try restarting the phone or iPad.
12. Update the phone or iPad to its latest OS version.
13. Test with the camera app included with phone or iPad's operating system to determine if the issue is app specific.
14. iPhones
    1. If not using the included lightning to USB cable, be sure to us an Apple brand Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and not a 3rd party.
    2. Test with a different standard USB-A to micro-B cable that's less than 1.5 feet.
15. Android Phones
    1. If using an Android phone with a USB micro B-type connector, be sure that only the included USB cable is being used.
    2. If using an Android phone with a USB micro B-type connector, the white end of the included USB cable must connect to the GO:MIXER PRO X and the black end of the USB cable must connect to the Android.
16. Power:
    1. Be sure that the phone is charged and not low on battery--if not using batteries.
    2. If using batteries, be sure that the batteries are new. Note that lithium batteries are not compatible.
17. If using PHANTOM POWER:
    1. iPhone/iPad Users:
       PHANTOM POWER cannot be used when being powered by an iPhone or iPad. In this case, batteries will need to be installed, the BATTERY switch set to "ON" and PHANTOM POWER set to "48v."
    2. Android Users:
       Don’t operate the [BATTERY] switch while a smartphone is connected. Doing so might destabilize the smartphone’s operation.
18. Disconnect the USB cable from both the GO:MIXER PRO X and the phone. Then reconnect both ends making sure that the USB cable is fully connected to both the GO:MIXER PRO X and the phone.
19. There may be a connection issue. A common reason for connectivity issues is that the phone's USB port, lightning port or headphone jack has accumulated dirt, lint or dust that is preventing the GO:MIXER PRO X from connecting. Check with the phone manufacturer for information regarding properly cleaning this port out--in order to make connectivity.
20. If available, test with a different compatible phone (using the link of one of the articles above as a reference).
