The RC-500 lets you assign an ASSIGN setting so an external footswitch or MIDI controller toggles the rhythm Variation between A and B.
Method A: Using an FS-6 or FS-7 footswitch
- Connect the FS-6 or FS-7 to the CTL 1, 2/EXP jack.
Switch A corresponds to CTL2, and switch B corresponds to CTL1. - Press the [MEMORY] button.
The memory settings screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select any of ASSIGN1–8, and press the knob.
- Set the following values.
- ASSIGN: ON
- SOURCE: CTL2 PEDAL (switch A) or CTL1 PEDAL (switch B)
- SRC MODE: TOGGLE
- TARGET: VARIATION
- TARGET MIN: A
- TARGET MAX: B
- Press the [EXIT] and [ENTER] buttons together to save the memory.
Method B: Using an external MIDI controller
- Press the [MEMORY] button.
The memory settings screen appears. - Turn the [MEMORY/VALUE] knob to select any of ASSIGN1–8, and press the knob.
- Set the following values.
- ASSIGN: ON
- SOURCE: the CC# you want to use (note this number for your MIDI controller's settings)
- SRC MODE: TOGGLE
- TARGET: VARIATION
- Press the [EXIT] and [ENTER] buttons together to save the memory.
On your external MIDI controller, set it to transmit the same CC# on the same MIDI channel as the RC-500 (channel 1 by default).
If your MIDI controller can only send a single fixed value per CC#, assign the same CC# to two separate controller buttons, one sending 0 and the other sending 127, to switch the Variation on and off.
