If the pitch of the Aerophone AE-20/AE-20W is not changing as expected, you may be accidentally pressing an unintended key. Common causes include:
- Pressing the octave keys with your thumb
- Pressing the side keys (C1, C2, C3, C4, Tc, Ta) with your palm
- Pressing the [X] key, [P] key, or [C5] key with your finger
- Pressing an unintended key with the ball of your finger
Play at a slower tempo to check whether the instrument is producing the correct pitches.
- Changing the fingering mode to "Recorder" disables the side keys, which makes it easier to isolate whether a side key is causing the issue. If pitches are correct in Recorder mode, you may be accidentally pressing a side key. For details, refer to "Changing the Fingering Settings (Fingering Mode)" in the AE-20 Owner's Manual.
- You can use the "fingering check mode" on the Aerophone Lesson app to check which keys are being pressed on the screen of your mobile device.
- You can disable keys that you are not using. See the related Q&A, “How can I turn off the keys that I don’t use?”.
If the keys themselves seem to be operating incorrectly (such as not returning properly when pressed, or being hard to press), contact your local dealer or Roland support center.
