No, the tones and scenes of JUNO-X can’t be individually selected for backup. To save a copy the desired tone or scene data as a backup, export the data to an SVZ file (tones) or an SVD file (scenes).
Follow the steps below.
- Connect a USB flash drive.
Use a USB flash drive that you’ve already formatted on the JUNO-X. See the related Q&A, “How do I format a USB flash drive to use with this instrument?” for details on how to format your USB flash drive. - Press the [MENU] (WRITE) button.

Use the [∧ SELECT V] knob to select “UTILITY,” and then press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.

Use the [∧ SELECT V] knob to select “IMPORT/EXPORT”, and then press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.

Use the [∧ SELECT V] knob to select “EXPORT TONE” or “EXPORT SCENE”, and then press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.

Use the [∧ SELECT V] knob to select where to export the tone or scene from, and press the [ENTER] (INIT) button to select it with a check mark.

Press the [>] button.

Move the cursor using the [<] [>] buttons, and use the [- VALUE +] knob to edit the characters.

Once you’ve entered the filename, press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.
- A confirmation message appears.
- If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button. -
To execute, use the [- VALUE +] knob to select “OK”, and then press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.
- The tones or scenes are exported to the “ROLAND/SOUND” folder on your USB flash drive.
- The display shows “Export Tone Completed!” or “Export Scene Completed!” when exporting is done.
- Never turn off the power or disconnect the USB flash drive during a process, such as while the “Executing…” display is shown.
