RC-505mkII: How do I trigger the built-in Rhythm Guide sounds using a MIDI Pad Controller or MIDI Keyboard Controller?

 

By default, the RC-505MkII MIDI RX(receive) Note channel is set to 10. Please be sure match the MIDI channel on your MIDI Controller with the RC-505mkII's RX MIDI Note channel. 

Below is the MIDI Note map for the RC-505mkII which you can use to map the MIDI Note numbers with your controller.

During performance, in order to loop the individual drum sounds, you will need to change the Rhythm Output Routing option in the RC-505mkII to "LOOP" instead of "OUTPUT." Here's how:  

1. Press the MENU button.
2. Press KNOB 2 under "OUTPUT."
3. Press KNOB 2 under "ROUTING." 
4. Press KNOB 2 under "INPUT/RHYTHM." 
5. Press the cursor right [ > ] button until "RHYTHM OUT" appears in the display. 
6. Turn KNOB [2] to choose "LOOP." 
7. Press the EXIT button when you're finished. 

This allows you to record the Rhythm Guide to one of the TRACKS (1-5).
