RC-500: How to control Memory Increase / Decrease using an FS-6 or FS-7 Dual Foot Switch pedal?

It is possible to use a BOSS FS-6 or FS-7 Dual foot switch to change memory slots in a performance scenario. 

You would need the following materials to control MEMORY location number navigation (up/down or increase/decrease). 
 
1x 1/4" TRS male to TRS 1/4" TRS male stereo cable for CV/Control Voltage transfer.
FS-6 or FS-7 Dual foot switch 
RC-500 
 
See Diagram below for wiring your BOSS FS-6 or FS-7 dual foot switch pedal to the RC-500. 

First set up the CTL 1, and CTL2 PREFERENCE to be SYSTEM/global instead of MEMORY/patch.
This will allow the following programming to function across all RC-500 Memory locations.
By default, CTL1, and CTL2 PREFERENCE should be set to SYSTEM by default, so a WRITE function is not necessary to save these settings or the CTL1, and CTL2 FUNCTIONS.

1. Press the MENU button to enter into the SETUP menu,
2. Use the MEMORY/VALUE knob and turn to navigate to PREFERENCE.
3. Press the MEMORY/VALUE knob as a button to enter the PREFERENCE menu.
4. Use the MEMORY/VALUE knob and turn to navigate to CTL1 PREF.
5. Press the MEMORY/VALUE knob as a button to enter the CTL1 PREF.
6. Use the MEMORY/VALUE knob and turn to change the setting:
   from MEMORY (patch) to SYSTEM (global), press MEMORY/VALUE knob after set.
7. Use the MEMORY/VALUE knob and turn to navigate to CTL2 PREF 
8. Use the MEMORY/VALUE knob and turn to change the setting:
   from MEMORY (patch) to SYSTEM (global), press MEMORY/VALUE knob after set.

Use these steps to assign CTL1 FUNC and CTL2 FUNC to control MEMORY INC/INCREASE and MEMORY DEC/DECREASE. 

1. Press MEMORY button, and then turn MEMORY/VALUE knob until CONTROL is displayed on-screen, press ENTER button.
2. Turn MEMORY/VALUE until CTL1 FUNC or CTL2 FUNC is displayed on-screen. 
3. Press ENTER button and then turn MEMORY/VALUE knob until MEMORY INC or MEMORY DEC is displayed. Since these settings are CTL1 and CTL2 PREFERENCE: is SYSTEM, these values can be set, and it's not necessary to WRITE/save unless CTL1 and CTL2 PREFERENCE: is MEMORY/patch. 
4. To coordinate with an external FS-6/FS-7 pedal the following is true as shown in diagram above:
   A = CTL2, and B = CTL1
   So setup the FS-6 or FS-7 in the following manner:
   Set the A = CTL2 FUNC=> to MEMORY INC.
   Set the B = CTL1 FUNC=> to MEMORY DEC.
5. Test and check with the connected FS-6 or FS-7 pedal, remember to use a 1/4" TRS stereo cable from A+B output of the FS pedal to the CTL1,2, EXP Input of the RC-500.
   Also, set the FS-6 or FS-7 MODE: to FS-5U(Momentary) and the Polarity in the same direction for both A and B switches.
